Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars Review

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars   Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars is a psn exclusive game. I would like to note that I will not be typing out that title ever again, and I will refer to it as SARPBC. SARPBC is one of the psn's hidden gems, so I'm writing a brief review persuading you to get it. First of all, for PS Plus users, the game is currently free and takes up around 300 MB of space, so there isn't much of a downside if you have a PS Plus membership.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Core Concept

The idea behind SARPBC plays like a soccer game, you have to hit the ball into the other team's goal to score. The twist? You're driving a car and the ball is twice your size. This unique spin combines sport and racing game for an experience that if very challenging, entertaining, and rewarding.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Graphics

Being a psn game, the graphics here are just so-so. Nothing special, but nothing that looks bad enough to make your eyes bleed. Not really much else to say here. Just plain, generic graphics that don't do much to help or hinder the game.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Gameplay

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars Review
The gameplay is an absolute blast. It does require a fairly steep learning curve, but after a few rounds (and the tutorials) you will be barrel-rolling and boosting your way to the ball with ease. It is difficult at first, and controlling the car enough to actually help your team is definitely an acquired skill. However, this simply makes it all to more rewarding once you finally get the hang of it. Doing acrobatic flips is fun, and again, it feels great to barrel-roll away from an opponent and then tap the ball in for a goal. The acrobats are fun, boosting has a great sense of speed, and smashing opponents to pieces is awesome (and the game actually keeps track of how many times you do this each game).

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Multiplayer

The game has online multiplayer, but local multiplayer is even better. SARPBC supports four-player split screen, and the competitive yet hilarious nature of this game makes it a great game to play with friends. Taunting will run rampant and your sides will split with laughter as your stupid friends block their own team's goal (I'm talking to you, Nick).

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Depth

The game isn't especially deep, but there are some options. Single player features a challenge mode where you have to complete different mini-games (win a game without crossing half court, win a game with a square ball, etc) as well as a tournament mode. Playing the challenge mode will unlock new vehicles to play as, but the difference is purely aesthetic as there's no change in vehicle stats. There are six arenas now that are different enough to keep things interesting for a while.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars: Final Comments

SARPBC is a fun party game at the cheap price of a downloadable title. It might not be the deepest game, but what it lacks in depth it makes up for with great gameplay and addictive offline multiplayer. I would urge everyone to get it (especially PS Plus users) or at least to try the demo.

Nothing special, but nothing terrible either

Awesome. One of the most purely fun games I’ve ever played

Multiplayer
Online is solid, but offline is great. A fantastic game to play with friends

Depth
Not the deepest game ever, but six maps, a tournament mode, and a challenge mode should keep you interested for a while

Overall
This game is an absolute blast to play with friends. The gameplay and multiplayer make up for any other shortcomings the game has.
